Smith Optics Signs Kirt Voreis, Joins Allride Tour...

Smith Optics is stoked to announce pro mountain biker Kirt Voreis has made Smith Optics his eyewear of choice.

Voreis, the 2002 Dual Slalom National Champion and renowned World Cup downhill racer, is one of the sport’s most progressive riders to date.  A professional biker since 1994, Voreis started out racing cross- country only to be hired later as a professional downhill and dual slalom racer.

After a decade of racing experience and world travel, Voreis eventually moved away from racing and began progressing in slopestyle, street and dirt jump competitions where he has received more recognition as one of the world’s best. He has also been featured in more mountain bike videos than he can count and even donned the cover of the famed motocross video Crusty Demons of Dirt III.

“I ride all disciplines on a bike and I know Smith Optics has the eyewear to support this,” said Voreis.  “Smith has been around for a long time and has proven to be not only a performance leader in eyewear industry, but a leader in style as well.  Their product line is as diverse as my riding and sense of style. I could not be happier to join their team.”

"Quite simply Kirt loves to ride. He's hard working and fired up all of the time and the kids and fans love him.  He has personality and he defies stereotypes.   Whether its downhill shuttles, crosscountry rides, jump sessions, park, pool, pipe, it just doesn't matter.  He is a 'rider'.  And he steps it up.  His ability to look at his environment differently than anyone else sets him apart from his peers.  The Allride Tour is unique.  It's a superstar just hitting the road in a sketchy RV so he can spread his stoke for the sport to every corner of the country."

Outside of the competitive arena, Voreis has a visible influence on the sport in general.  For the last four years he has taken mountain biking straight to the people with his AllRide Tour - stopping at bicycle dealerships around the country and going on rides with locals. Whether he rides kid's secret dirt jumps, a downhill shuttle or an epic cross-country ride, he will join anyone interested in riding a bike.

Voreis promotes the products he believes in by letting people test ride his fleet of Santa Cruz bikes and see his products first hand. The Santa Cruz Allride Tour will hit the road in April 2007 stopping at major events, dealerships and local trails around North America.
