Fluidride Cup: Overall 7 of 46

Fluidride posted the final points for the season, and I was 7th overall in my class. I only had time to compete in 2 races, but in one of the 2 races I beat the overall class winner. I was not able to make it to the Hood races in Oregon, preferring to focus on Southern B.C., Motocross, and alpine riding goals in the beautiful backcountry areas of the Cascades.

Fluidride/ODS/Hurricane Racing deserve a lot of credit for bringing a solid gravity series back into the PNW. For several years there hasn't been a DH racing series for western Washington folks to attend which didn't involve a fair amount of driving. Fluidride Cup has revitalized the discipline, and in doing so it has been a shot in the arm to other races in the area including a long running and strong scene in eastern Washington/ Western Idaho. The whole area is buzzing with excitement for the year 2009.

Next year I am moving up in class (category 1), and my goal is to to remain competitive. There are some solid riders in the class above, so it will be a good season of learning.

This season I raced an IH Sunday Factory, and thought the bike was perfect for tight technical PNW style DH trails.

Looking forward to 2009.

FOCF Super-d Series 2nd Overall Expert

The series concluded this weekend with a super race put on by the friends of Capitol Forest. I took 4th place in the expert class with a time of 23:59, and my points tally was enough to get 2nd in the overall. Which is cool, because it gives me something to work for next year.....1st place overall and a clean sweep of all the races.

Fluidride Cup #4 2nd Sport

Fluidride returned to Dry Hill in Port Angeles for the 4th installment of the PNW gravity series. Practice took place in dry, dusty conditions, and race day turned out as a rainy, muddy quagmire. Business as usual.

I had a great time running the course from White Knuckle to Moto Guzzi to Cakewalk, and turned in a decent enough time to place second.

Next race in the Fluidride series is in Oregon at Mt Hood. I plan on moving up to expert class in order to run the high quality downhill course they put on for expert, elite and pro riders.
